The Village People will have a rooting interest in the Santa Anita Derby, sort of.
Mucho Macho Man was the winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic. The horse returned to the races in 2014 with a victory in the Sunshine Millions.
On Saturday, the competition will get tougher as he is expected to face Will Take Charge and Game On Dude among others in the Santa Anita Handicap.
The group that inspired the horse’s name will be rooting for him to take home the winner’s share of the $750,000 purse. Check out their shout out below:
The race will be shown as part of The Jockey Club on FOX Sports 1 (7 p.m. ET).
